Reckless Ben is opening the second Reckless Bricks store in Sarasota, Florida

The second Reckless Bricks store opens this morning at 11 a.m. Eastern, at 4047 Clark Rd in Sarasota, Florida, a week to the day after the first one opened in Tucson. Its name is already on a banner at 4047 Clark Rd: Cosmic Critter Toys, presented by Reckless Bricks. At 8:57 p.m. Eastern last night the YouTuber Ross Creations put the address on screen for his followers, and at 11:02 p.m. Reckless Ben filmed himself inside the store saying the plan is to keep opening stores faster than BAM can close them. As of Friday night the address was still a Bricks & Minifigs, and BAM’s own paperwork still counts it as one.

What Reckless Ben says he is doing

Reckless Ben did not present the second store as a coincidence. Filming inside it on Friday night, he tied it directly to what he said BAM was doing to the first one, and set out a plan to move faster than the franchisor can answer.

“Bricks and Minifigs is currently trying to shut down the Reckless Bricks store I opened last week. And it seems like they might actually be successful, which is why I found another Bricks and Minifigs. And we’re converting it into a Reckless Bricks too. ... We’re just going to keep opening stores before they have the time to close them down. So they can’t close down the other store, because they’re going to be focused on this store now.”

That is Reckless Ben’s statement of his own intentions, and it is the clearest account yet of why a second store is opening a week to the day after the first. Who owns either store is a separate question, and BAM’s own franchise paperwork answers it.

What BAM’s paperwork says it is

BAM has disclosed this store to prospective franchisees for three years running. Jennifer and Jonathan Martin appear as the Sarasota owners in Exhibit F of the 2024, 2025 and 2026 franchise disclosure documents, with the store’s phone number printed beside their names in the last two. The store is absent from the 2023 edition, which is consistent with a store that opened in August of that year, and absent from the 2026 Exhibit G, the list of outlets that closed, transferred or were terminated, which means BAM counted it as a going franchise at the end of 2025.

One of the eight

In August this site reported that BAM had quietly cut eight of its stores out of the Slack workspace it runs for franchisees. The Sarasota store was one of them. The eight had joined an independent franchisee association, and BAM had told owners in writing that the association could not be promoted, organized for, recruited for or discussed in company channels. That is the part of this story that does not depend on anyone’s characterization: BAM’s own operations manual names Slack an approved way to reach Corporate, and makes a failure to communicate a ground for termination. A store cut out of that channel is being held to a standard on a line the franchisor closed.

It is the strongest public tie between this store and the system it is leaving, and it was on this site three weeks ago. The eight stores, and what BAM told owners about the association.

What her store earned inside BAM’s own numbers

BAM publishes a distribution of what its franchises make. In the 2026 disclosure, the 2025 median franchise did $467,539. The bottom quartile’s median was $302,611, and the lowest store in the system did $188,084. Those are BAM’s figures, disclosed to every prospect who asked for them.

What BAM’s own contract says about leaving

A franchisee who leaves owes BAM de-identification, not silence. Section 15.C of the franchise agreement requires a departing store to strip the marks, the trade dress and the signage, and Section 15.D lets BAM buy the assets if it chooses. Nothing in either provision reaches the owner’s ability to say why she left. The transfer machinery is a separate door, with its own fee, and it is the door BAM has pointed departing owners toward before.

The week BAM had

The first store to leave opened in Tucson on Saturday, September 12. Within a day BAM had deleted it from its own locator. Its marketing director told owners internally that the company was taking blowback, and through the following week the company said nothing in public at all. The store was still stocked and still trading five days later, and on Friday the account BAM’s own coach had given of the closure ran into the landlord’s office. That is the template this morning lands on. The question is whether a second store changes it.
