What rights do you have as a Bricks & Minifigs franchisee? A guide for every store, by state, in the statutes’ words and BAM’s own.

Pick your state and the year you signed. The guide opens your state’s franchise statutes, BAM’s own addendum for your state in that edition, the conditions the state put on BAM’s registration, and what the disclosure document said beside the record. Every line carries its source. No franchisee is named.

CONFIRMEDFourteen states require BAM to register before it sells. In its own addenda BAM defers the initial fee until the store opens for North Dakota in every edition since 2017, for Washington in 2017, 2022 through 2024 and 2026, for California in 2024 and 2026, for Illinois in 2017 and from 2024 on, for Maryland in 2017, for Virginia from 2024 on, and for Hawaii and Minnesota from 2025 on; Illinois says the reason is “Franchisor’s financial condition.” Minnesota has registered BAM only on that condition since June 2024. Ninety-four of the 249 open stores on BAM’s own store finder are in the fifteen states that have both a store and a relationship law requiring cause, notice or compensation before a franchise is terminated or not renewed.

What each state page holds

• Whether BAM was registered in your state the year you signed, per its own Exhibit K, and what the regulator’s own record shows where the filed copy is blank.
• The conditions on that registration. Minnesota has registered BAM only on a fee-deferral condition since June 2024, on its examiner’s reading of BAM’s own balance sheet; the notice and the orders are hosted from the state’s file.
• BAM’s addendum for your state, in its own words, edition by edition: where you can sue and under whose law, rescission and void provisions, releases.
• The statutes, quoted from the legislature’s site, with the private-action sections and, in the states with a relationship law, what the state requires before a franchise is terminated or not renewed.
• What the document said in your edition, beside the record.
• What you can ask for in writing today, and where to file.

In the states with a relationship law, the guide says what each law requires of BAM before a franchise ends and the locks change. The company never put the three facts on one page. The state did, the statute did, and BAM’s own addendum did. The guide only puts them together.
