The records officer who releases the footage shares a home with an AFPD sergeant

CORROBORATED

The person who answers records requests for American Fork City — and who produces the redacted bodycam releases the public receives — shares a household with a sworn American Fork PD sergeant. Jamie L. Stowers is the city’s Records Specialist; Adam R. Stowers is an American Fork PD Sergeant. Both appear, by name and role, in the Utah public-employee compensation registry.

They co-own one American Fork residential parcel together. The Utah County Recorder lists Adam & Jamie Stowers as the owners of Utah County serial 40:010:0001, a residential lot in American Fork, held jointly since 2020. The records function that decides what the public sees of police conduct sits inside the same household as a member of the department whose conduct those records document.

The fair counterpoint, stated plainly. This is a conflict of position, not a finding that any release was altered. There is no claim here that Jamie Stowers performed any specific redaction. The AFPD release attributes the redactions to the Utah County Attorney’s Office, and the named records officer on the release is Adam Ellison. What is documented is the structural overlap: the records desk and a sworn officer in one home, co-owners of one parcel.

Sources: Utah public-employee compensation registry (American Fork City, for both roles); the Utah County Recorder (serial 40:010:0001, owners Adam & Jamie Stowers, held since 2020). The residential address is withheld. More on how the footage reaches the public: The takedown; the people on the connection map.
