What Is an Inventory Count?

An inventory count is exactly as it sounds, a count of your inventory. There are 2 options when you are doing your count, either a partial count or a full count. A full count will be counting every piece item in your store. When you are counting, any items you miss or aren't counted will have their inventory quantity set to 0. This is why it is very important that you set the correct type of count for your intended purpose.

What is an Inventory Adjustment?

An inventory adjustment is there to help you adjust your inventory for specific reasons. For example, if you brought in a large trade and you already have the items you bought as items in your Heartland, you would want to adjust the quantity that shows up. With an inventory adjustment all you need to do is go in, select your reason, give it a description, and then add the items in and adjust the amount.

What's the difference?

In cases where you are going to want to update your entire inventory or a specific item type or department you'd want to use the inventory count function. However, if you just need to update a few items that came in then you are going to want to use the adjustment feature.
